A Legacy of Innovation

Sellars began with a simple but impactful vision: to enhance the absorbency of materials used for cleaning up oil spills and drips. Over the years, this vision has evolved into a commitment to utilizing recycled fibers and advanced technology to produce high-performance paper products. The company's proprietary paper processing machine, nearly the length of a football field and towering two stories high, epitomizes this commitment. This cutting-edge technology not only strengthens the paper but also allows for customization in color and appearance.

The Bravo Breakthrough

The latest addition to Sellars' product lineup, Bravo paper towel, represents a significant leap forward. This innovation is particularly noteworthy in an industry where recycled products often lag in performance compared to their non-recycled counterparts. Thomas Sellars, Chairman and CEO, proudly states that Bravo is a “game changer” due to its superior performance, addressing a common criticism of recycled paper products.

Expanding to Meet Demand

To keep up with the high demand for Bravo and other products, Sellars is embarking on a major expansion. The company is looking to lease a new 60,000-square-foot building near its current headquarters at 6565 N. 60th St. This new facility will accommodate an additional mid-sized paper processing machine and support the increased production capacity needed to meet market demands.

However, the expansion is not just about physical space; it’s a strategic move to enhance operational efficiency and grow the workforce. Sellars, which currently employs around 200 people, anticipates adding between 25 and 30 new positions. This growth will not only support production but also contribute to the local economy.

Funding the Future

To fund this expansion, Sellars is seeking to raise $4.8 million, with just over $2 million secured so far. Sellars is also exploring opportunities for reinvestment of dividends from existing investors to support future growth and innovation.

Looking Ahead

As Sellars Absorbent Materials continues to grow, its commitment to technology and sustainability remains at the forefront. With a clear vision and strategic investment, Sellars is poised for continued success and impact, setting new standards for performance and environmental responsibility.

Stay tuned to see how Sellars will continue to shape the future of absorbent materials and drive positive change in the industry.
